Minimal Kitchen Island & Open Shelving Updates!
We got new barstools! Yay!
When we first moved into the house, we had 4 red barstools from Facebook Marketplace that were $50 for the set, and I painted them black. But, the paint job did NOT hold up. I’m sure I could have spent hours this summer stripping the barstools to try again, but we decided to save that project for another time, and get new barstools instead.
The open shelving and the shiplap was in the house when we moved in, but the shelves were unfinished, so we stained them a medium warm brown to match our other furniture in the house.
The thing about a builder-grade flip is that it can feel pretty bland and pretty cold. So I try to add in texture wherever I can: with the leather on the barstools, baskets, the textured photo frame on the top shelf, wood accents and frames, and books.
